Dear Blog,
Sorry for being so neglectful, Twitter has stolen a portion of my soul with its 140 character ease. I will return I promise, just as soon as I have something other than, "Grr those commentators on shitty opinion pieces on shitty news sites are retarded," to say.
Love you...

And This
And tell me why it is that everyone has to go and get all freaked out if we of the vagina tribe don't do/like what/who we are supposed to? That Robert Pattinson guy is sex on legs, and I hate Twilight. If Edward Cullen was my bf I would lose my shit. But since I really liked Whip It, and would really like to beat people up on roller skates I must be a lesbian, because it was TOTES all about the emasculation of the male characters. Wait. That doesn't make sense.
Every single fucking movie is about a male sports team, male bonding, male road trips, male stag nights, male cold feet, male fucking everything, and the female characters? They are just thrown in to be the annoying girlfriend/wife/fiancée/all round buzzkill that anyone with XX chromosome must be.
So fuck off with your bullshit break downs about why I like a movie about strong, empowered, amazing women, or movies that star tall, brooding males with chiseled jaws.
Whip It was awesome, because, for once the female lead wasn't dumped, she achieved a dream, and she did it for herself.
And vampires are awesome, because they are mysterious, sexy, tall, brooding males with chiseled jaws.
Unlike the moronic males writing columns about the secrets of the female psyche, who have no mystery about them whatsoever, as they return to the same bored assumptions. Every. Single. Time.

Wanneroo Liberal Paul Miles, said he believed tampon advertisements should only be shown after 9pm. “I know they advertise toilet rolls but I’ve got a five-year-old boy and he saw the beaver one…”
AND?
Fine, a five year old probably doesn't need to know about the joys of menstruation, but why must he highlight that he has a five-year-old BOY?
Is Mr Miles going to attempt to hide the facts of life (for a female) from his son forever? Because that won't make things awkward if he is ever in a relationship, with, you know, a girl.
Oh well, maybe he will get lucky and his son will like boys and never need to worry his poor little head about it.

This story upset me very much.
The painful childhood that the author describes is heartbreaking and something that no-one should ever have to endure, but her view of feminism, to me, is just as devastating.
I am a feminist, I identify as a feminist, I tell people I am a feminist.
I believe in equality between the sexes, I believe that both sexes should make their own choices about their lives and how they live them, whether they conform to traditional standards or not.
I have and will continue to read the works of feminist icons like Greer and Steinem and Millett, and I have agreed with things they have written and disagreed with things they have written.
I do not hate men.
I do not think that all men are rapists.
I do believe that some men still have a poor attitude towards women, sexual or otherwise.
I do not believe that only men commit domestic violence, or that men are the only perpetrators of violence in general.
I do believe that all forms of violence, domestic or otherwise, towards women or men, is an enormous problem in our society.
I do believe there are women that are just as, if not more evil, than men in the world.
I do not believe that females are naturally more compassionate than males.
I do believe that more of our leaders should be female.
I do believe there are places in the world where women are treated as second class citizens, and I do not believe they deserve this.
I believe that women who want to be stay at home mothers and dedicate their lives to their families should be supported, just as I believe that women who do not want to be mothers or wives should have their decision equally respected.
I believe that every man, woman and their dog has an opinion on women, childbirth, child-rearing, household duties and matrimony, and that this is a pressure on women that needs to change.
I believe that many of our behaviours are most definitely gendered.
And I believe that feminism still has a place in today's society.
That is why I am a feminist;
because there are still men and women in the world who think it is ok to call a woman a slut for having sex,
because there are still men and women in the world who think that they should be able to decide what other females do with their bodies,
because there are still women in the world forced to cover themselves from head to toe, forced to take responsibility for rapes and assaults committed against them, forced to marry, forced to stay in their homes, forced to leave their educations, because there are still trolls on every feminist related article and blog on the internet telling the author they are too ugly to get raped, or that they are too much of a bitch to get married and have babies so no wonder they don't want either of those things,
and because I appreciate the fact that because of feminism I can have a career if I want to, have sex if I want to, have babies if I want to, drink alcohol if I want to, get married if I want to, vote if I want to, wear pants if I want to, be Prime Minister if I want to, and all the other amazing CHOICES that I have been given.
I want these choices to continue to be mine to make and feminism is the reason taht they are and will be.
